In fact, of the top ten artists included, Luke Combs and Luke Bryan are the only two artists to not achieve a major Pop or crossover hit. Upon completion of reviewing Spotify’s “monthly listeners” metric, the results in some ways were predictable, yet surprising in others.Įach of the top six artists have earned a major Pop or crossover hit Luke Combs being the top artist to not achieve that feat. Oftentimes, an artist’s number of monthly listeners will fluctuate and vary from month to month (at times depending on recent activity and releases) however, the monthly total generally does not seem to rapidly fluctuate, thus giving users an excellent gauge of an artist’s popularity on the platform. Spotify provides users with an easily accessible metric to measure an artist’s popularity on their platform, monthly listeners. After analyzing and compiling the most-streamed Country artists on Spotify, it certainly was proven that a Pop or crossover hit would seemingly increase an artist’s success on the streaming platform. For many of these artists, that very song remains their top song on Spotify oftentimes holding the top spot, despite not being a very “recent” hit. It can be said that a Country artist having a Pop or crossover hit directly correlates with their streaming numbers.
